Very misleading article, right from the first paragraph.
http://mormonchurch.com/709/what-do-mormons-believe-about-adam-and-eve
The biggest difference in how mormons see adam and eve is something that mormons are not taught. It’s that mormons believe that they are literally the first humans, and that they lived around 4000 B.C. (according to mormons and bible scholars). Whereas, for example the Catholics and the Jews believe that the adam and eve story is didactic fiction (so the time problem is not a problem).
In light of modern knowledge, this difference in belief is clearly the most important because it raises an uncomfortable, but obvious truth. It begs the question how can anyone believe that the first humans were born in 4000 B.C.
The bigger question here, for the authors of this site, is whether it’s an intentional omission, or one done out of ignorance.
If mormons were given these two facts (literal + timing) as part of their own narrative, then they’d surely question their own account of things. And so would anyone they told.
THAT is the biggest difference in how mormons see adam and eve, from other religions.
Time to move on folks. Transcend your bad history and embrace the good that came from it. Find a more truthful way to do good, than tricking others into it.
We can handle the truth. (can you?)
