Imagine yourself being pitied by an old man in church for your belief in evolution.
Imagine a 9-year-old kid speaking from the pulpit about how some crazy person tried to teach him that the earth was created from an explosion.
It was anti-science day at church. It was pitiful. Nobody corrected anybody. They never do.
That’s the problem with church. Anyone can say anything, as long as they believe it. And never will they be corrected. Instead, they are respected for having convictions.
jeeez.
– – – – – –
(original note, right after church:)
so, in testimony meeting (church) an older gentleman told of his riff with his son over evolution; said his son showed him Darwin’s Origin of Species and a documentary explaining evolution. …and went on to say that with his knowledge of the gospel, how all of this evolution stuff was “laughable”. …I was disappointed to know that nobody will challenge him or correct him, or dare explain that evolution is one of the most exhaustively proven scientific theories there is. I have to give the man credit for one thing, he does interpret the meaning of evolution correctly. If evolution is true, then the church’s account for everything is in serious question. (aka, is false).
Then – as if it was anti-science day, a young kid got up and said that someone said that the earth started from an explosion, and it was obviously not how it happened — that god created it.
Again – I was sad to know, almost with certainty based on past experience, that this kid will be praised for his certainty and strength of testimony, but he will never be corrected or taught about the evidence… that the elements we’re made of came from exploding stars.
SAD ANTI-SCIENCE DAY AT CHURCH
